The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in the United States, recently announced its first set of Impact Grant beneficiaries. These are either people or organizations that have a positive impact on the cystic fibrosis community. Each winner will be accepting $10,000 as part of the grant.

Cystic fibrosis is caused by a growing, defective gene that results in the buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. When the mucus blocks the airways in the lungs, it traps bacteria. This can lead to infections, substantial lung damage, and respiratory failure.

The vice president of community partnerships at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation shared in a press release that people with cystic fibrosis have the best insights about living with the disease. She further stated that it is an honor for the foundation to support people and organizations that tackle issues relating to cystic fibrosis.

The beneficiaries of Impact Grants include the Cystic Fibrosis Lifestyle Foundation, the United States Adult CF Association, Project CF Spouse, sINgSPIRE Program, Program NuYou, Miles for Cystic Fibrosis, and Continuing Education for Caregivers/Individuals with CF.
